The British Metal Tubes and Fittings Association (BMTFA) represents manufacturers of a wide variety of metal fittings used in the connection of Carbon Steel, Copper and Stainless Steel tubes. Fittings are produced in a variety of materials and in a large number of variants, including Brazed, Soldered, Push-on, Compression, Grip-ring, Grooved, Press-fit for thin wall tube, Press-fit for thick wall tube, Threaded, and Welded options. This section identifies each variant, their typical application suitability, and the standards (both current and legacy) that are commonly used or specified in the building services environment. The ultimate aim is to ensure that the correct fitting is utilised for the correct application so that longevity of usage is ensured.
